The publication includes the proceedings of the conference on multilingualism in the Canale Valley (bordering to Austria), held in Tarvisio in 1995. The conference was organized by the Slovene Research Institute. The 15 papers present the state of the Slovene, German and Friulian language in the area, as well as the inter-ethnic relations and possibilities of multilingualism in the processes of European integration.
