The book was published to celebrate the entry of Slovenia into the European Union on the 1st May 2004. Its aim was to record the event through the testimonies of twenty operators in various sectors of society, from a range of institutions and organisations in Gorizia and Nova Gorica, who have been involved in the promotion of cross-border co-operation for many years, in the fields of culture, sport, research and media. The people interviewed have expressed their own point of view on their experience of the border and its multiple aspects, as well as on the planning and development of the territory of Gorizia which offers new prospects and possibilities for a step forward in the creation of a cross-boundary region.
