The SLORI organised a public presentation and a round table entitled RE-THINK THE COMMON SLOVENE SCIENTIFIC SPACE, held in Trieste, on the 4th December 2009, in cooperation with the Science and research centre of Koper, University of Primorska (Znanstveno-raziskovalno središ?e Koper Univerza na Primorskem – UP ZRS), with the faculty for humanistic studies of the University of Primorska (UP FHŠ) and with the Slovene National Library in Trieste (Narodno in študijska knjižnica Trst – NŠK).
The preliminary part of the initiative was dedicated to the presentation of the scientific results achieved by the abovementioned research bodies and institutes in the study of the minorities’ development processes and of the interethnic and intercultural relations in the Italian-Slovene cross-border area. A particular attention was destined to the research projects and other scientific initiatives, which were carried out in cooperation among Slovene research centres operating on both sides of the border.
The analysis of the state of the art and of the future development opportunities of the scientific-research cooperation was then object of discussion during the round table, coordinated by dr. Milan Bufon (University of Primorska). The objective of the round table was exposing the available starting points for a consolidation of the common Slovene scientific-research space.
