A research project promoted by SLORI

Project promoter: SLORI – Slovenski raziskovalni inštitut
Project performer: SLORI, dr. Devan Jagodic
Project implementation period: 2012-2013

Within this project, a poll was carried out among students of the 3rd and 4th year of high schools with Slovenian as the teaching language in the Provinces of Trieste and Gorizia. The research is based on studying speaking habits of the students in their everyday life, their exposure to cultural and media production in Slovenian and Italian, their considerations about and attitudes towards the two languages. The starting point for the survey are questionnaires used in past researches (Gruden 1972, Štrukelj 1983, Jagodic, 2005).

The objectives of the research are:
1. to study the speaking habits of Slovenian high schools students in the Provinces of Trieste and Gorizia;
2. to compare today’s situation with that of the past decades;
3. to prepare a questionnaire which is to be the basis for further surveys.

The results of the research will be presented in a scientific monographic publication.
