Slovenščina v vrtcu: poučevanje in učenje jezika v vrtcih s slovenskim učnim jezikom v Italiji

The scholarly monograph consists of five broad chapters with sub-chapters defining the teaching of Slovene in pre-schools with Slovene as the language of instruction in Italy, from the mission, specificity and expectations of pre-school education to the challenges of knowledge of Slovene, learning/teaching Slovene, the bilingual/multilingual development of children and knowledge of the broader social context of Slovenes in Italy.

The aim of the monograph is to synthesise previous studies in the field of early learning/teaching of Slovene, while introducing current results, as well as integrating and updating existing knowledge with insights from the discipline and recent research. For the purpose of this monograph, a number of Slovenian scientific articles and monographs dealing with some elements of early language learning, as well as a number of foreign articles and monographs (from the Italian and Anglo-Saxon area), as well as articles in the field of early language learning and Slovene didactics published by the authors of the monograph, have been examined.

The book thus provides, on the one hand, a critical synthesis of previous results and practices in the teaching of Slovene in the pre-school period and, at the same time, introduces, in an argued manner, new results, concepts, points of view and, consequently, a terminology based on action-research, which is significantly adapted to the characteristics of educational practice in Slovene-language pre-schools in Italy.
