Implementing subject: SLORI

Collaborators: Aliče Mačkovšek, Lara Pižent, Andreja Kalc
Project implementation period: 2023-2025

The goal of language support is to improve the quality of Slovene language use, oral and written, in bank operations by preparing language aids and training employees.

SLORI provided the following services:

  • Terminology glossary update. SLORI has updated the terminology glossary, which can be consulted online by staff. The Italian-Slovenian glossary collects the most common terms in banking, business, accounting, and finance.
  • Update of style manual. SLORI has also updated the manual with stylistic directions. The manual contains examples of appropriate use of the Slovenian language in a business (banking) environment, examples of common errors, deviations from the norm and inappropriate uses, and suggestions for more effective communication.
  • Training Workshops. SLORI conducted two training workshops for employees. The main topics covered were: a) effective business communication in Slovene (introduction); b) 10 spelling and grammatical pitfalls of the Slovenian language; c) phenomena of Italian-Slovenian language contact in a business (banking) environment; and d) translation for managers: transferring content from Italian to Slovenian.
  • In 2025, SLORI organised a series of training workshops for employees. The main topic was new computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools. These tools will significantly improve the quality and efficiency of translations and strengthen the position of the Slovenian language in the banking sector.
