The Welsh community is successfully resisting the assimilation pressures from the English-speaking majority in Wales through a clear and ambitious linguistic policy. The author presents an analysis of the main strategies and techniques used to promote the Welsh language, such as the broadening of the services available in the minority language, the planned growth of the use of Welsh with the insertion of new subjects belonging to the English-speaking majority, the improvement of the linguistic capabilities in the Welsh language of those belonging to the minority and the direct promotion of the language. The aim of the research is to show how it is only possible to preserve the Welsh language on a long-term, with the inclusion of new members from the English-speaking majority.
