La tutela globale e gli sloveni della provincia di Udine

Zaira Vidali
Gorica, SLORI, 2002

The approval of the global rights law for the Slovene community in Italy in 2001 was a deeply important event for the community that lives in the province of Udine, in as much as it recognises its Slovene identity and this opens new prospectives for development. This is, in synthesis the idea which emerges from interviews with some of the cultural and political representatives of the Valleys of Natisone, Val del Torre, Val Resia, Val Canale and Trieste following the approval of the protection law. In the introduction the main social, cultural, linguistic and historical characteristics of the Slovenes in the province of Udine are illustrated, as are their requests for legal protection.
