Once again the Regional Council of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region entrusted the Slovene Research Institute (SLORI) with an important task: drafting the contents of the second edition of the Regional Conference on the Protection of the Slovene-language Minority, held in Gorizia and Trieste on 24 and 25 November 2017 respectively. As in the first edition of the conference, SLORI prepared four papers on the topics selected by the steering committee. The topics addressed at the conference were: Implementation review of Regional Law 26/2007 ten years after its approval (Adriana Janežič); Review of the measures adopted to safeguard the Resian language and the language varieties spoken in the Natisone valley, Torre valley and Val Canale (Ilaria Ciccone and Živa Gruden); The network of linguistic and translation services available in the geographical area officially inhabited by the Slovene minority in view of the forthcoming setup of the Central Office for the Slovene Language (Matejka Grgič); and Political representation and engagement of the Slovenes in Italy (Sara Brezigar and Zaira Vidau). SLORI has also edited a bilingual collection of all the reports, articles and research papers presented at the conference. The editors of the publication are Adriana Janežič and Devan Jagodic.
