Project leader: SLORI. Partner: Società Filologica Friulana, Circolo Culturale Saurano “Fulgenzio Schneider”

Project duration: 2020-2021

The project financed by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia envisaged the creation of four short animated videos with the aim of spreading the knowledge of national minorities in Europe and in Friuli Venezia Giulia, with particular emphasis on the Slovenian national minority in Italy. The animated videos created are available in different languages: Slovenian, Italian, English, Friulian and German. They can be used both as teaching material in schools and universities and as information and promotional material for a wider audience. The videos are short (3 to 4 minutes each) and deal with complex topics in an original, simple, casual and entertaining manner.

The first video, entitled National Minorities: Characteristics, Rights, Dissemination, is inductive in nature. In addition to offering various examples concerning the reality of national minorities in Europe and Italy, it summarises their fundamental rights. The second video, The national minorities in the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, illustrates the social, cultural and linguistic characteristics of the three national minorities (Friulian, German and Slovene) present in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, focusing on the protection laws currently in force at both regional and national level.

The animated videos were presented to the public on Tuesday 29 June 2021 on ZOOM.

The third and fourth films deal with topics related to the public life of Slovenes in Italy: the video The Slovenes in Italy: settlement area and history focuses on the settlement area and the historical development of the Slovene community, with particular emphasis on the period from the 19th century to the present day, while the video The Slovenes in Italy: social and cultural activities illustrates the many activities carried out by Slovenes in Italy and the vast network of organisations and associations operating in the economic, media, cultural, sports and religious spheres.
