The\nInstitute’s research activities consist of basic and applied research <\/strong>in\nthe field of social and human sciences.<\/strong> Research projects focus on the analysis\nof theoretical and empirical findings relating to ethnic concerns of the\nSlovene minority, various forms of coexistence in pluriethnic and plurilingual\nsocieties, as well as the development processes taking place in the\ngeographical area in question. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SLORI’s main research\ntopics <\/strong>are: the current status and future\nperspectives of the Slovene ethnic minority in Italy in terms of its\nfundamental social aspects (social and political bodies, the implementation of\nlegal protection measures, education and training, knowledge and use of the\nSlovene language, feelings of national identity, demographic trends, the\ncurrent economic situation and perspectives for the future, cultural and sport\nactivities, social concerns, youth problems, etc.) with a special focus on\ninstances of cultural and language contact between Slovenia and Italy; the\nchallenges of cross-border cooperation and the development of a joint\nscientific area across Slovene-speaking regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts and scientists at both local and international level are\nregularly informed about the outcomes of the Institute’s research activities.\nMoreover, the Institute’s team regularly publishes and promotes its own\npublications and other material<\/strong> and disseminates the outcomes of research activities in specialised\njournals, at conferences and other dedicated events<\/strong>. Thus, the results of the Institute’s\nresearch activities can be found in publications issued in Italy, Slovenia and\ninternationally in the fields of sociology, political science, ethnology,\npedagogy, linguistics, literature, history, etc. Often the outcomes are also\npublished in local daily newspapers and magazines, since the Institute aims to\npresent its activities to key civil society figures in the Slovene ethnic\nminority. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
